Tiny Creek Daycare

At Tiny Creek Daycare, we are committed to providing high-quality childcare in a safe, happy, and caring environment. Our program is rooted in revitalizing Xatśūll laws, values, language, and culture to support the overall well-being of our children.

We also recognize and celebrate the diversity of all Indigenous and non-Indigenous cultures represented in our community, ensuring that every child feels valued, included, and supported.

Our Approach to Childcare

At Tiny Creek Daycare, we follow an integrated, Indigenous, and nature-based approach that reflects both best practices in early learning and the teachings of the land and community. Our philosophy is guided by the understanding that children are sacred, and that their growth and learning are strengthened through connection to family, culture, and the natural world.

Learning from the Land

Our program is deeply connected to the land. We believe that the land is our first teacher and offers endless opportunities for exploration, growth, and connection. Through land-based learning, children spend time outdoors discovering the natural world and learning traditional knowledge from Elders and Knowledge Keepers.

With guidance from Elders and Knowledge Keepers, children learn:

  • The Secwépemc language, stories, and cultural teachings connected to the land.
  • Traditional ecological knowledge, including how to identify local plants and their uses.
  • How to make simple medicines and natural remedies respectfully and safely.
  • Seasonal changes, wildlife, and environmental stewardship.
