In total, nine members attended the CORE (Conservation Outdoor Recreation Program) on Aug. 15 and 16.
Overall, it went really well though there were 20 spots available, says Janae Beaulieu, Community Health Representative.
“We were hoping to fill it up because all of the spots were prepaid. Now that we’ve done CORE, we’ll be moving on to PAL (Possession and Acquisition License for rifles and shotguns) on September 19 and that’s a full day course as well.”
Spots for PAL are limited to 20 and the Health Department will require a $50 deposit.
“It’s just to hold people accountable and make sure that they’ll attend because there were so many who back out of CORE at the last minute.”
Beaulieu says she’s really pleased with the people who took CORE.
“I just think it’s really awesome that these people took it and now they can hunt in the Yukon, Saskatchewan, Alberta, you know, not just in B.C. which is good.”
