Soda Creek Indian Band Chief and Council 2009-2011

	Chief Bev Sellars  Bev Sellars returns to the community after an extended period of "visiting other territories".  While she was away she attended the University of Victoria where she received a History Degree minoring in Political Science.  She later received a Law Degree from the University of British Columbia.  Bev was employed by the UBC Law School and articled at the Vancouver law firm of Miller Thomson LLP.  She decided a law career was not for her and from September, 2003 until her return to the comunity she was employed by the BC Treaty Commission as a Treaty Process/Community Information Advisor. Being elected Chief is not a new role for Bev.  She served as Chief of Xat'súll from 1987-1993.  Bev also has an Accounting Certificate and Business Administration Diploma.  To email Bev Sellars

	Councillor Thomas Phillips Since 2001 Thomas Phillips has worked for the Xatśūll First Nation (Soda Creek Indian Band) in various capacities and this is the first time that Thomas has run for Council.  He is currently working as the Economic Development Coordinator and is managing the Xatśūll limited Partnership under the direction of a Board made up of people with various business backgrounds. Thomas also plays a key role in developing agreements with Industry and Government who operate within  Xatśūll’s Traditional Territory.   He also manages the Band’s Taxation Department and also negotiates lease agreements on behalf of the Band.  He is also a Board Member of the Likely/Xatśūll Community Forest Ltd company.     TRAINING/WORKSHOPS: Negotiation Skills Training Level 1 Negotiation Skills Training Level 2 Mediation Skills Training Technical Writing Skills Training Tourism Marketing Course Facilitators Workshop Taxation Training Computer Courses Mining Workshops Resolving Conflict in the Workplace Dealing with Anger 3 week management course Thomas Phillips is also working towards completing his Negotiation Certificate through the Justice Institute of BC in New Westminster, BC.
